Name: Tom Hudson (tomhudson@wam.co.za)
Comments: Great page, the canal ran at the back of my house in Linnvale,Clydebank, it was a big part of my childhood. We used to catch goldfish next to Singers in the sixties and sell them to the shows for a few pennies.

Name: Mrs Michele Smith (michele.smith1@talk21.com)
Comments: Came accross this website by accident when looking for info re: Clydebank during World War 2. I used to stay in Linnvale (Attlee Avenue - accross from the shops). I attended Linnvale Primary School and the canal ran along the back of the school. I remember one year (I was in approx Primary 5 - 1977/1978) when the canal was cleaned of green algae and dredged. Many pupils climbed the wall during playtime and lunchtime to paddle in the canal and some of the more daring ones even swam in it. The canal brings back a lot of memories and when the canal does eventually re-open, I will hope to take my family on a trip from end to end and show them the parts of it which were part of my childhood. Best wishes........Michele Smith (nee McKenna)
