Other Canal Sites

Since you probably came here through my canal pages, here are some links to other canal related sites you may find interesting:

• James Gentles' Site - An excellent collection of resources on the Millennium Link project. Concentrates mainly on the Falkirk Wheel, but other parts of the project also get a mention
• Waterway Recovery Group - Voluntary canal restoration organisation which runs canal camps, mostly across England and Wales, and works on a section of canal for a few days at a time. I've been on two of their camps and thoroughly enjoyed them - highly recommended
• Stenlake Publishing - A small publishing company which publishes many interesting books on the canals, written by Guthrie Hutton
• British Waterways - This is the official site for the Scottish canals, recently refurbished and now much better than before. Thanks to Steve Goodsell for telling me the new address
• Millennium Link Site - The official website for the project, with news, information and photographs. It now includes a separate on each of the obstructions, with info on how it will be removed, and sometimes target dates or pictures
• George Pearson's site is an excellent place for links to pages about waterways all over the UK, and some even further afield.
• The London Canal Museum's site is another good centre for canal information on the web, mainly about the London canals, but with links to other sites all over the country.
• The Bridge Inn & Edinburgh Canal Centre, Ratho - The Bridge Inn is the centre of most of the activity on the Union Canal today. Visit its website for details of the inn, the boats based there and other things of interest.
• Linlithgow Union Canal Society A very active society based in Linlithgow, who, among other things, run Scotland's only canal museum, and boat trips to the magnificent Avon Aqueduct. This web page has more details.
• Lowland Narrowboats - a new boat hire company based on the lowland canals.
• Seagull Trust - A website for the charity which runs free cruises for disabled people on the Scottish canals.
• Forth and Clyde Canal Society - The website of the Forth and Clyde Canal's main voluntary society.
• Bridge 19 to 40 Society - The new society which has replaced the former Buchan Society on the Broxburn area of the Union Canal.
• Jim Howie's Monkland Railways Page - Not exactly a canal site, but a very good site about Monkland railways which may be of interest to some of my visitors.
• Canal barge - offers unused timeshare weekends on narrowboats for hire

Simpsons Sites

Besides canals, my other main obsession is The Simpsons. These are some links to what I would consider to be the creme de la creme of Simpsons sites on the web (at least from a UK perspective).

• The Simpsons Archive - This is the main unofficial Simpsons site. Contains loads of information on every aspect of the show.
• The Unofficial UK Simpsons Site - contains TV schedules, video release information and news specifically for UK Simpsons fans
• The Snipsons - This site is a directory of all the bits of the show that have been censored in British showings. Very interesting and enlightening reading for any UK Simpsons fan. There's also an online petition to (hopefully) end the ridiculous censorship of the program by Sky and the BBC
